This week helped me see digital literacy differently. The idea of Indigenous digital literacies showed me that technology does not mean the same thing for everyone.

I learned that many Indigenous youth are not interested in technology because of jobs or money. Instead, they care more about expressing themselves and connecting with their community. This is different from what I thought before. I used to think learning technology was mainly for future work. Now I think it can also help people connect with others.

Another important idea for me was data ownership. I started to see that data is not neutral. It was explained that some AI systems use Indigenous knowledge but do not understand it correctly. They may mix different cultures. This can create wrong information and harm. Because of this, I think it is important that communities control their own data.

This week made me think more about who controls data and how it is used. I now see that digital technology is not only about tools, but also about culture and responsibility.
